Hair transplant recovery day by day
- Days 1-3: There may be swelling, redness, itching, and scabbing in the transplanted area. It’s better not to go to work during these days. There may be slight swelling in the forehead, which is normal and can be controlled with the medication provided.
- Days 4-10: The swelling and redness will either completely disappear or greatly reduce. By day 10, the scabbing should be gone. You should continue avoiding touching the transplanted area.
- Weeks 2-3: The transplanted hair may start to fall out. Don’t worry, this is normal. After this, new hair will start to grow at varying times depending on the patient.
- Months 1-2: During this time, you can resume doing anything you did before the hair transplant, including drying your head with a towel and facial activities. Now, you just need to patiently wait for your new hair to grow. Don’t rush.
- Months 3-4: Your hair will start to grow back as thin strands. It may look lifeless, but don’t worry, thicker hair will grow in time. Additionally, one area of the scalp may appear denser than another, which is normal. Continue to be patient.
- Month 5: Noticeable hair growth and density should start to become visible. The hair may still be thin, but it will thicken later on, so don’t worry. By now, about half of the results should be visible.
- Months 6-9: By this time, you should be halfway through the healing process. The existing hair and transplanted hair will blend together. If the transplanted hair has grown long, you can cut it. Most importantly, the transplanted hair should look natural and not noticeable as a result of the procedure.
- 1 Year: For most people, the process is largely complete. The hair thickens and merges with the existing hair. In the majority of patients, a permanent and natural look is achieved.
